3. TweetNaCl

Author: Daniel J. Bernstein, Tanja Lange, Peter Schwabe
Source: https://tweetnacl.cr.yp.to
Version: 20140427
License: Public Domain

TweetNaCl is a compact implementation of the NaCl cryptographic library. Everstra uses it solely for Ed25519 signature verification in the license module. TweetNaCl is in the public domain.

4. FFmpeg (Everstra Live)

Source: https://ffmpeg.org
Version: 6.1.2
License: GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later (LGPLv2.1+)

Everstra Live and Everstra Capture each bundle their own, separately compiled FFmpeg binary, with different ./configure flags and different statically linked dependencies — this section covers Live's build specifically. Capture's own, differently configured FFmpeg build has its own notice under “FFmpeg (Everstra Capture)”.

FFmpeg is bundled as a separate binary and is executed as an independent process. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code. FFmpeg's own libraries, together with GnuTLS and its dependencies (see below), are statically linked into that binary; the system C library (glibc) is linked dynamically against the one provided by the camera firmware.

The FFmpeg binary distributed with Everstra is built without the --enable-gpl configuration option and is therefore provided under the LGPLv2.1+.

The complete corresponding source code for the exact FFmpeg version bundled in this distribution (FFmpeg 6.1.2), together with the build configuration used to produce the binary, is available at:

https://everstra.com/source/

This corresponding source will be made available for at least three (3) years from the date of distribution. The Author will also provide it on request via info@everstra.com.

In accordance with the LGPL, the complete build configuration (the Dockerfile, including all configure flags and the exact versions of every statically linked library) is published together with the sources. This allows a recipient to rebuild the FFmpeg binary with a modified or newer version of any LGPL library it contains.

5. GnuTLS

Source: https://www.gnutls.org
Version: 3.8.5
License: GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later (LGPLv2.1+)

GnuTLS is statically compiled into the FFmpeg binary bundled with Everstra Live to enable TLS, HTTPS, and RTMPS support. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code.

Copyright (C) 2000-2024 Free Software Foundation, Inc. and individual contributors. See https://www.gnutls.org for full copyright and attribution details.

The corresponding source code and build instructions are available together with the FFmpeg source at https://everstra.com/source/.

6. Nettle (including Hogweed)

Source: https://www.lysator.liu.se/~nisse/nettle/
Version: 3.9.1
License: GNU Lesser General Public License v3 or later (LGPLv3+)

Nettle is statically compiled into the FFmpeg binary bundled with Everstra Live as a cryptographic dependency of GnuTLS. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code.

Copyright (C) 2001-2022 Niels Möller and contributors.

The corresponding source code and build instructions are available together with the FFmpeg source at https://everstra.com/source/.

7. libtasn1

Source: https://www.gnu.org/software/libtasn1/
Version: 4.19.0
License: GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later (LGPLv2.1+)

libtasn1 is statically compiled into the FFmpeg binary bundled with Everstra Live as a dependency of GnuTLS. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code.

Copyright (C) 2002-2023 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

The corresponding source code and build instructions are available together with the FFmpeg source at https://everstra.com/source/.

8. GMP

Source: https://gmplib.org
Version: 6.3.0
License: GNU Lesser General Public License v3 or later (LGPLv3+)

GMP (GNU Multiple Precision Arithmetic Library) is statically compiled into the FFmpeg binary bundled with Everstra Live as a dependency of GnuTLS and Nettle. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code.

Copyright (C) 1991-2023 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

The corresponding source code and build instructions are available together with the FFmpeg source at https://everstra.com/source/.

9. FFmpeg (Everstra Capture)

Source: https://ffmpeg.org
Version: 6.1.2
License: GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later (LGPLv2.1+)

Everstra Capture bundles its own, separately compiled and statically linked FFmpeg binary — a different component whitelist than Live's: no networking/TLS at all (Timelapse and Intraday need none), a concat and JPEG-pipe demuxer, an mp4 muxer, and the openh264 video encoder (see below) instead of Live's GnuTLS/Nettle/libtasn1/GMP chain. Capture's FFmpeg links none of those.

It is bundled as a separate binary and executed as an independent process. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code.

The FFmpeg binary distributed with Everstra Capture is built without the --enable-gpl configuration option and therefore is provided under the LGPLv2.1+.

The complete corresponding source code (the same upstream FFmpeg 6.1.2 release used for Live) together with Capture's own build configuration (a separate Dockerfile, since the configure flags differ from Live's) is available at:

https://everstra.com/source/

This corresponding source will be made available for at least three (3) years from the date of distribution. The Author will also provide it on request via info@everstra.com.

10. openh264

Source: https://github.com/cisco/openh264
Version: 2.6.0
License: BSD 2-Clause License

Capture's FFmpeg build statically links openh264 as its H.264 video encoder (libopenh264), used by Timelapse and Intraday to encode captured frames to MP4. It is NOT linked into the Everstra application code, only into the separate FFmpeg binary.

openh264 was chosen over libx264 specifically because it is not GPL-licensed — linking a GPL-licensed encoder would put the whole binary under GPL terms, which this project deliberately avoids (the same reasoning behind building FFmpeg itself without --enable-gpl).

This Font Software is licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.
This license is copied below, and is also available with a FAQ at:
https://openfontlicense.org

SIL OPEN FONT LICENSE Version 1.1 - 26 February 2007

PREAMBLE
The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide
development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation
efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and
open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership with
others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The fonts,
including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded, redistributed
and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved names are not used
by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives, however, cannot be released
under any other type of license. The requirement for fonts to remain under
this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their
derivatives.

DEFINITIONS
"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright
Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may include
source files, build scripts and documentation.

"Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the
copyright statement(s).

"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as
distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).

"Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting, or
substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the Original
Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a new
environment.

"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical writer or
other person who contributed to the Font Software.

PERMISSION & CONDITIONS
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy
of the Font Software, to use, study, copy, merge, embed, modify,
redistribute, and sell modified and unmodified copies of the Font Software,
subject to the following conditions:

1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components, in
Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.

2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled,
redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy
contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be
included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or in
the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or binary
files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.

3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font
Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the
corresponding Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the
primary font name as presented to the users.

4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font
Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any Modified
Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the Copyright
Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written permission.

5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole, must be
distributed entirely under this license, and must not be distributed
under any other license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this
license does not apply to any document created using the Font Software.

TERMINATION
This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are not
met.

DISCLAIMER
THE FONT SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT, PATENT,
TRADEMARK, OR OTHER RIGHT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE
FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL,
INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF
CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO
USE THE FONT SOFTWARE OR FROM OTHER DEALINGS IN THE FONT SOFTWARE.

15. FreeType

Source: https://freetype.org
Version: 2.14.3
License: The FreeType License (FTL, a BSD-style license)

FreeType is statically compiled into the Everstra Overlay application binary as the font rasterizer bundled with the Skia rendering engine. It is used to render text overlays. Everstra uses FreeType under the FreeType License (FTL); FreeType is also available under the GNU General Public License v2, which Everstra does not use.

16. Open-Meteo weather data

Source: https://open-meteo.com
License: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

The Weather overlay in Everstra Overlay displays current weather and forecast data retrieved at run time from the Open-Meteo API. This data is provided by Open-Meteo (https://open-meteo.com) under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

No Open-Meteo source code is bundled with Everstra. The Weather overlay shows the required "Weather data by Open-Meteo" attribution on the live image.

17. libjpeg-turbo

Source: https://github.com/libjpeg-turbo/libjpeg-turbo
Version: 3.0.1
License: Three compatible BSD-style licenses (IJG License, Modified BSD License, zlib License) — see below.

libjpeg-turbo is statically compiled into the Everstra Capture and Everstra Overlay application binaries (as a vendored static library, not a system dependency — the Axis ACAP SDK ships jpeglib.h and a pkg-config file but no actual linkable library). Both modules use the same vendored 3.0.1 build.

In Everstra Capture it decodes and re-encodes JPEG images for gallery thumbnails, and the Startrail compositor uses it to decode captured frames. In Everstra Overlay it decodes JPEG images a user selects as a graphic overlay. It is NOT linked into Everstra Live.

This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.

The upstream LICENSE file also carries PNG Reference Library License version 1, which applies to libpng 0.5 through 1.6.35. Everstra bundles 1.6.43, so version 2 above is the applicable licence.

19. zlib

Source: https://zlib.net
Version: 1.3.2.1-motley
License: zlib License

zlib is statically compiled into the Everstra Overlay application binary. Like libpng it is bundled inside the Skia rendering engine; libpng and Skia use it for the deflate compression inside PNG files. Everstra Live and Everstra Capture do not bundle zlib — their FFmpeg binaries link the camera's system zlib dynamically instead.

"Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object
form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the
editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications
represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes
of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of,
the Work and Derivative Works thereof.

"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of
the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted"
means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent
to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to
communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems,
and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the
Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but
excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise
designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."

"Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity
on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and
      subsequently incorporated within the Work.

   2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the
Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.

   3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
(except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made,
use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work,
where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable
by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their
Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s)
with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You
institute patent litigation against any entity (including a
cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work
or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct
or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses
granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate
as of the date such litigation is filed.

   4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the
Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without
modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You
      meet the following conditions:

      (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or
Derivative Works a copy of this License; and

      (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices
stating that You changed the files; and

      (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works
that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and
attribution notices from the Source form of the Work,
excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of
          the Derivative Works; and

      (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its
distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must
include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained
within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not
pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one
of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed
as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or
documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or,
within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and
wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents
of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and
do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution
notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside
or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed
          as modifying the License.

You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and
may provide additional or different license terms and conditions
for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or
for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use,
reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with
the conditions stated in this License.

   5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,
any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work
by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of
this License, without any additional terms or conditions.
Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify
the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed
      with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

   6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade
names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor,
except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the
origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.

   7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or
agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each
Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS,
WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or
implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions
of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the
appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any
risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.

   8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,
whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

   9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing
the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer,
and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity,
or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this
License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only
on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf
of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify,
defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability
incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason
of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.

   END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

APPENDIX: How to apply the Apache License to your work.

To apply the Apache License to your work, attach the following

replaced with your own identifying information. (Don't include
the brackets!) The text should be enclosed in the appropriate
comment syntax for the file format. We also recommend that a
file or class name and description of purpose be included on the
same "printed page" as the copyright notice for easier
      identification within third-party archives.

21. skcms

Source: https://skia.org (Skia module modules/skcms)
Version: shipped with Skia branch chrome/m130
License: BSD 3-Clause License

skcms is Skia's colour management library. It is statically compiled into the Everstra Overlay application binary as part of the Skia rendering engine and converts colour profiles when overlay images are drawn. It cannot be disabled and is always present when Skia is. It is NOT linked into Everstra Live or Everstra Capture.

skcms lives inside the Skia source tree (modules/skcms) and ships no separate licence file of its own; its sources carry "Copyright 2018 Google Inc." and refer to Skia's own LICENSE, which is reproduced here for completeness. It is therefore the same licence text as the Skia section above.

22. Eclipse Paho MQTT C Client Library

Source: https://github.com/eclipse-paho/paho.mqtt.c
Version: 1.3.16
Library: libpaho-mqtt3as (async, TLS-enabled variant)
License: Eclipse Distribution License v1.0 (EDL, BSD-3-Clause style)

Bundled, static. Everstra Hub cross-compiles this library from source and links it statically into the application binary. The version above is the one in the shipped package and can be verified from it.

An earlier draft used the camera firmware's own copy instead. That was dropped deliberately: it tied a security-relevant library to whatever version the operator's firmware happened to carry, and a library Everstra cannot state, patch or place in its security update process is not one Everstra should depend on.

Modified. One patch is applied to the source before it is built, everstra-hub/patches/paho-1.3.16-sni-ip-literal.patch. It stops the library from aborting a TLS connection when the broker is addressed by IP: RFC 6066 forbids an IP literal in the SNI extension, so SSL_set_tlsext_host_name() refuses it, and the library let that refusal escape as its own return value, which its caller read as a connection failure. The patch skips the SNI call for an IP literal and changes nothing else. It is not upstream.

Eclipse Paho is dual-licensed under the Eclipse Public License v2.0 and the Eclipse Distribution License v1.0. Everstra elects the Eclipse Distribution License v1.0, reproduced below.

23. LibreSSL

Source: https://www.libressl.org
Version: 4.3.2
License: ISC License, plus the OpenSSL and SSLeay licences for inherited code

Bundled, static. LibreSSL is the TLS backend of the Eclipse Paho MQTT client above. It is cross-compiled from source and linked statically into Everstra Hub; the camera firmware's own OpenSSL is deliberately not used, for the reason given in section 22.

Eclipse Paho supports exactly two TLS backends, OpenSSL and LibreSSL. LibreSSL was chosen because, statically linked for this target, it is roughly three times smaller than OpenSSL 3.x and carries a smaller attack surface.

The CA certificate bundle shipped alongside it is the Mozilla CA certificate list as distributed by Debian/Ubuntu's ca-certificates package, used under MPL 2.0. It is data, not code.
