-
2026
Everstra begins
Own ACAP modules for his own camera: the first release, Everstra Live 0.1.0, is published on 12 June 2026.
-
today (no exact date)
Schlüttsiel runs on Everstra
The Schlüttsiel harbour webcam runs on Everstra Live, Overlay and Capture and streams continuously to the public.

LiveRTMP disconnects on high-bitrate cameras — RTSP input buffer raised (thread_queue_size 8 to 512)
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.1.0
CaptureInitial release of Everstra Capture

Everstra Live v0.4.2

All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.1.2
CaptureThird-party notices now list only the components actually bundled in this module

All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.4.3
LiveSeveral UI improvements.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.1.4
CaptureSeveral UI improvements.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.4.4
LiveStream configuration is now dynamic — resolution, view area and overlay handling are built from a clean, validated stream profile instead of hardcoded values.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.4.5
LiveStreams now start correctly on cameras whose active capture mode caps the frame rate below 30 fps — the frame rate is automatically clamped to the camera's supported maximum instead of refusing to start.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.5.0
LiveRecording to SD card — the camera can record the stream it is sending, straight to its own SD card, alongside the live broadcast.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.2.0
CaptureThe Recordings page.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.6.0
LiveThe Privacy page — an always-available overview of every connection Everstra Live itself opens, built from your actual configuration.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.3.0
CaptureThe Privacy page — an always-available overview of every connection Everstra Capture itself opens, built from your actual configuration, showing each interface's status and the data it exchanges.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.6.1
LiveContinuous recordings could lose their earlier footage after a stream drop or camera restart.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.3.1
CaptureThe recordings timeline now opens on the most recent day that actually contains footage, instead of always jumping to today — so continuous recordings started the previous evening are visible immediately.
All changes → -

LiveAn internal security review of Everstra identified weaknesses in how Everstra Live handles credentials in logs, exports and stored files.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.3.3
CaptureAn internal security review of Everstra identified weaknesses in how Everstra Capture handles credentials for e-mail, FTP uploads and stored files.
All changes → -
Everstra Hub v0.1.1
HubAn internal security review of Everstra identified weaknesses in how Everstra Hub handles the MQTT broker password and the settings interface.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.7.0
LiveOnline activation.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.4.0
CaptureOnline activation.
All changes → -
Everstra Hub v0.2.0
HubOnline activation.
All changes → -
Everstra Live v0.8.0
LiveStreams over RTMPS (TLS) were encrypted, but until now the app did not check the streaming server's certificate — so the connection was not protected against someone intercepting it and posing as the server, who could then have received the stream key.
All changes → -
Everstra Capture v0.5.0
CaptureFTP uploads (Star Trail, Timelapse, Intraday) went out unencrypted until now — user name, password and recordings could be read by anyone on the network path.
All changes → -
Everstra Hub v0.3.0
HubOther apps installed on the camera could until now reach this app's internal endpoints directly, without the camera's login check — the app's FastCGI socket was reachable for other local processes, a side entrance past the web server.

What comes next
A note on direction, not a promise. Everstra is a one-person project, and it ships what it can stand behind — so treat everything here as being considered, not scheduled. Whether any of it ships depends on whether it can be done well and whether people actually need it.
Overlay
-
Official weather warnings (DWD)
In progressSevere-weather warnings from Germany's national weather service, shown as an overlay while a warning is active.
-
YouTube Statistics
In progressLive viewer count, channel metrics and video ranking as an overlay.
-
Ferry Schedule
In progressFerry timetable overlay with PDF import and seasonal schedules.
-
Overlay planner with priorities
ExploringOverlays that make room for each other: a weather warning takes the place of the AIS map while it is active, then gives it back.
-
Overlays that follow the PTZ position
ExploringShow, hide or rotate overlays depending on where a PTZ camera is pointing.
-
Values from a local MQTT broker
ExploringLive values from your own network in an overlay, with nothing leaving the camera.
-
Weather Integration
ExploringValues from your own weather station, more precise than a public weather service — as an overlay of its own and as values in text and ticker overlays.
-
Text or ticker from a URL
ExploringA text or ticker overlay fed from a URL you choose.
-
Sky View
ExploringNight-sky overlays that name what the camera sees — stars, planets, the Moon, satellites and aircraft — and follow them across the image.
Live
-
Keep-alive for all three streams
ExploringThe failover that keeps a YouTube broadcast alive, extended from the main stream to all three streams.
-
Stream or recording started by a camera event
ExploringStart a stream or a recording on motion or an input signal. This no longer has to wait for a built-in feature: with Everstra Hub and a Home Assistant automation it already works today.
-
Local audio from the camera
ExploringUse the camera's built-in microphone or an external microphone on the audio input as the live stream's audio, instead of a silent track, a local audio file or audio from the network.
Capture
-
PTZ integration
ExploringCapture jobs that work with PTZ presets and camera positions.
Hub
-
Fleet monitor
ExploringOne view across many cameras and sites.
-
Webhooks
ExploringEvents to any HTTP endpoint, besides MQTT.
-
Prometheus and Grafana
ExploringCamera metrics as a Prometheus target for Grafana dashboards.
-
Scenes and automations
ExploringStarting streams, capture jobs or image settings as part of Home Assistant scenes.
-
Watchdog with restart
ExploringNoticing a module or camera that stopped responding, and restarting it deliberately.
-
PTZ reaction
ExploringTurning the camera to a preset position when an event fires.
